World's Quietest HC2000 Offers Professional-Level Features for Home Cinema Enthusiasts
WELLINGTON, September 29, 2004 - Mitsubishi Electric, the industry leader in home entertainment technology and innovation, today introduced its HC2000 projector with features that promise an extraordinary home cinema experience. The HC2000 projector offers the latest technology in video display, image excellence, noise reduction, convenient installation and HDTV compatibility in home theater projectors.

Mitsubishi's HC2000 displays stunning HDTV images thanks to its own CineView HD™ video processing technology, which processes and scales all signals for the smoothest, cleanest images. The HC2000 produces spectacular results from standard definition video sources such as DVD, cable and satellite as well. The HC2000 also boasts the latest DLP™ chip from Texas Instruments, known as the TI HD2+™ chip for high performance video imaging. The projector has a 4x and 5x colour wheel speed selection to provide a customized viewing experience; rainbow effects from fast motion are virtually eliminated.
Along with offering a 3600:1 contrast ratio, Mitsubishi's new HC2000 uses a novel approach to enhancing detail in black areas in analog or digital video. To reduce internal light reflection and image noise, optical engine components are coloured black, leading to clear, detail-rich images through the lens. The lens aperture is also optimized for better image reproduction in dark areas of a film or video.
The projector is designed with a distinctive 8-segment dark-video enhancement colour wheel that has two palettes of red-blue-green, and two dark green segments, minimizing noise and providing more details in the shadows. This level of detail in the darks makes film noir and dark action films more vibrant and exciting to watch.
The HC2000 home cinema projector uses a scirroco fan and a unique cooling duct, which creates a very effective sound baffle. The resultant fan noise is as low as 23 dBA-the quietest projector available in the world today. Home theater enthusiasts using high-end audio components can enjoy the subtlest movie sounds-without distracting fan noise.
The HC2000 is also designed to fit in an out-of-the-way place to minimize viewing distraction. Using a vertical lens shift of 50 percent, the projector can be mounted directly to the ceiling with a slim bracket, and project to a 2.65m diagonal screen positioned 75cm down from where the ceiling meets the wall. The HC2000 chassis is designed to avoid leaking any internal light, which also can detract from the projected image.
The HC2000 offers the highest digital imaging technology today in true 1280 x 720, HDTV resolution. It also has a DVI input with high-bandwidth digital copy protection (HDCP) compliance for use with digital set-top boxes that distribute high quality video signals. "HD is the buzz for everyone in the home cinema market," said Lefebvre. "And the HC2000 is the projector everyone will be talking about." To create an overall home theater environment based on Mitsubishi's technological excellence, the HC2000 can be connected to an HDTV tuner/controller for a full cinema experience.
The HC2000 will be in limited distribution through a select group of A/V Specialty Retailers, and has a street price of $11,999 inc GST. It is covered by an exclusive, two-year limited warranty on parts and labour plus a 500-hour limited warranty on the lamp.
