About Mitsubishi CITY MULTI
The Mitsubishi Group originated as a marine shipping company founded
by Yataro Iwasaki following the Meiji Restoration, which occurred in
Japan in the latter half of the 19th Century. The Mitsubishi Group
subsequently branched out to cover a number of industries, including
shipbuilding, finance, and foreign trade. By the end of World War II,
the group had grown into one of Japan's huge conglomerates known as zaibatsu.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
was founded in 1921 when Mitsubishi
Shipbuilding Co. (currently Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.) spun
off its marine electric motor factory in Kobe. Subsequently, Mitsubishi
Electric firmly established itself as a diversified electric equipment
manufacturer, branching into nearly every sector related to electric equipment -
air conditioning and refrigeration systems being just two such examples.
After World War II, Japan's zaibatsu were broken up, and most of the Mitsubishi
companies were disbanded or split up. Since then, the surviving companies have
been operating as independent entities. Naturally, the various Mitsubishi
companies enjoy a healthy, amicable relationship with each other by virtue
of their historical roots. And they all continue to place the utmost importance
on maintaining the highest level of quality for their products and services
in order to uphold the excellent reputation of the Mitsubishi brand.
As part of this tradition, Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries
have been conducting their operations as separate companies while valuing their
historical ties with each other. Both companies have independently entered the
air conditioning and refrigeration sectors, where they both conduct a full
range of operations, including development, manufacturing, sales, and service.
However, to avoid confusion among customers, both companies refrain from using
the one-word "Mitsubishi" brand name. Instead, they use their respective company
names, "Mitsubishi Electric" and"Mitsubishi Heavy Industries", to label their
products. Mitsubishi Electric also sometimes uses "Mr. Slim" as a product name.
At Mitsubishi Electric, we continually strive to maintain a high level of quality
and service for our air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
